Hakone Trip

  • Jun. 30th, 2009 at 2:34 PM
I know it's more than a month late but I started to upload the pics from my sister's trip here.
First weekend we went on an overnight trip to Hakone

A depiction of Hakone and our first stop Gora Park

Many gorgeous flowers and scenery

It was so windy that we decided to go down the lake the next day. Dinner that night was Japanese Beef(on the right) course. YUM!! The beef was so tender!!

The next day we went down by cable car to eat Hot Spring Egg and go down Lake Ashi

As you can see the egg is black, and it's suppose to add years to your life hehehe we'll see The last one is Hello Kitty dressed as a hot spring egg. Here you can buy Hello Kitty mascots specific to that area. very cute!

We went down to the lake, crossed the lake by pirate ship ferry and visited the Hakone Checkpoint Museum.
Hakone used to to the checkpoint for people travelling to the old capital so it's one of the historical sites in Hakone.
Too bad it was cloudy on the other side of the lake so we couldn't see Mount Fuji.On a clear day, you can have such a wonderful view of Mt. Fuji here.
I'll post some other pictures soon

Emergency

  • Dec. 19th, 2008 at 6:23 PM
It wasn't long ago that our building had a fire drill so when the bell suddenly started ringing today, it was cause for worry. Well honestly speaking because it wasn't one of those smoke billowing out of the room kind of thing, nobody really panicked or anything. Around lunch time today one of the fire alarms on the left corridor of out floor started ringing, Iit wasn't so loud becuase the one on our side wasn't ringing. The building broadcast said that they're on their way to check it out. Of course I also  wanted to know what happened. Walking to the bathroom back and forth, I noticed a somewhat burning smell coming from that side. It started getting stronger that I was kind of  "maybe we should start going out now" Then the broadcast started up with " Please evacuate the whole building, no elevator use the stairs please" so carrying my bag and laptop of my boss hahaha I followed the mass migration outside. Thankfully nobody was injured but 7 fire trucks plus ambulance and gas inspectors came. Tehy eventually let us in the building again, our floor last and are currently investigating the cause of fire. Big happening 3 days before my trip !

TTCOHTM Moment

  • Jul. 28th, 2008 at 5:55 PM
You know when you get  into situations and you think that "These things can only happen to me!" Well I encounter those from time to time. On a normal day, I don' t see myself as a lucky person. By lucky, I mean the winning the door prize in a raffle kind of lucky. I do believe I am lucky in family, friends and work, the stuff that really matter But for those everyday, something good will happen today kind of luck. I need to fill up my meter before I even get smidgen.
ANYWAY ... last saturday, I had a break between schedule so I decided to get my one-week old new bike at toshimaen from nerima so i can take my bike and inflate my tires. So walking back to from Nerima, I decided to go home and eat lunch too so on the way I decided to buy ice cream from this shop I always pass by on the weekends. So loaded with melting in the sun goodies I walked back to toshimaen retrieved my bicycle and went home. On the way home I decided that putting air wouldnt take a few minutes so what's a few minutes difference right. BIG mistake. SO there I was putting in the 50 cents to the machine and pumping air to the tires and when I deemed it full, closed the cap took the handles and prepared to ride home. I took one step and prepared to pedal away when bam I mean literal *BOOM* my tire explodes! not the whole thing but I blew out a wheel!! Right there in front of the bike shop!! With my ice cream melting in the basket!!! Argh I ended up getting a new tire rubber (there went my movie money ). This does not bode well for my new bicycle. sigh SO how was your weekend?
In other news, movies this month are a smogasbord! So many movies to watch!! Joey recommended Kung Fu Panda so Keiko and I are watchign on Wed and also on Friday we're going to watch the new Ghibli movie " Ponyo in a Cliff" by the master Hayao Miyazaki. On saturday the new Naruto movie starts too!! I have free ticket so might watch it Saturday prime time :)  Then the following week, the Dark Knight starts! plus Hancock and The Incredible Hulk too!!! SOo many movies to watch. Iron man does not start till September though.
Rookies just finished and although it was different from the manga in some parts it was still really cool!! They did a pretty good job so now I'm entertaining the thoughts whether they would dream of doing Slam Dunk. If they do though, they better do a damn fine job. I wonder if Inoue Takehiko will allow it. And at the end of the 2 hour finale they announced that there will be a special this autumn and a movie next year!! Woot More Rookies. And with that ending, we who have read the manga all know who that guy is heheheh The movie is rumored to be an original story about their last year in high school . They are talking with manga write Morita Masanori now about the story.  *waku waku*  More Shinjo-kun!

Akihabara

  • Jul. 22nd, 2008 at 3:08 PM
Went to Akihabara Sunday and met my new friend [info]gardenprophet and we went anime trekking in Akiba. Animate was so full that it was even hotter inside than outside would you believe. Sunday was another blistering day! Among my stash is the Indiana Jones one coin figure

I got one of the secret figures and it' s so cute!!! Trouble is I was expecting Indiana Jones and Hans Solo pops out hahahahahaaha. I can't find a picture online so I'll take a picture of it soon hehe. Also bought a Moyashimon post it tooo cute. Also a mini shitajiki of naruto showing the high school one, sadly naruto mechandise is becoming fewer and fewer. On the other hand Katekyoushi HItman Reborn is booming. I bought 2 shitajiki ( I got a Varyaa/Vongola set) . Photo stickers of SD tsuna yay and a stick poster of gokudera. I love all the designs so I want more. Also bought photo sticker of Oofuri. Mihashi-kun!!  Wakey! we forgot to go to Mandarake!

We ate in a chinese restaurant. Shanghai Bar. It was pretty good!! The food tasted like authentic Chinese food hehehehe. Was so full!

Moyashimon Magnet

  • Jun. 26th, 2008 at 1:32 PM
I posted before about Moyashimon, and so far my obsession hasn not abated yet hehe. The came out with the Moyashimon magnet each one jsut around 20 mm small. They were so cute. While Janin was here, we went to the anime store to buy my brother's gundam and there it was moyashimon gachgacha

For 300 yen per capsule, inclusing 2 of each, it was pretty pricey. But I wanted one so out of 8 machines, Janin and I chose one of each and lo and behold we both got the same one!!! the one we least wanted too!!! hahahahah We got the banana looking one. I ended up buying the whole set online though haha, before it shoots up in price again, maybe I heard there was a first set that came out December last year too

but it sold out so quickly that now you can only buy them online for more than twice the price. Tsk if I only knew hahahaha.

concert seats

  • Jun. 19th, 2008 at 5:46 PM
Here are the pics of the Larc-en-Ciel Concert!
It was held in Tokyo Dome and since it was reserved seats people were hanging out until 15 minutes before the concert started.

15 minutes later

The whole arena area costs 30 thoudan yen per seat! As you can see my the picture. I shot it from my seat (waaaay up in my already 9000 yen seat). Photos aren't allowed  after the concert starts so if you peer really close, the white sheet is the center stage and the helm of a ship comes out right after the concert starts/ It started so early because it was a Sunday and the sun was still shining!! haha

  • Jun. 3rd, 2008 at 4:20 PM

My friend invited me to go with her to the L'Arc-en-ceil concert last sunday! This time is their last concert for a while so it was a treat to go see them! The tour L'7 which toured 7 countries went to Paris for the first time too. Japan was the last stop and they had a concert in Tokyo Dome!! Our seats where somewhat nosebleed area but the place was packed. The arena seats were 30,000 each and they were sold out!!! I loved the concert!!! It brought back the memories of why I love L'Arc so much ever since Bronne introduced me to Blurry Eyes! Rock on!!

Cooking and Tokyo Midtown

  • Apr. 9th, 2007 at 11:35 AM
They opened a new high rise mall in Ropponggi end of March, close to Ropponggi Hills. The higher the floor the more expensive the restaurants. And unusually for me, I braved the mob of opening date gawkers and went there. Personally I liked it better than Ropponggi Hills in that it felt roomier than RH. RH feels so so mechanical for me and so narrow. It feels ritzy though, there was a Japanese goods store that had a line outside just to browse inside. heh. Anyway, the reason I went there was because my friend invited me as a guest to her cooking class. We made cinammon bread and ham and mayo bread. It was very good !! have to try it at home.
